Very friendly volunteers who made me feel welcome. The choir and pipe organist were fantastic, as we're the rose windows. I also enjoyed a thought provoking eulogy.
Pretty church, but this church let me down. I called this church for first communion classes for my daughter, they said they would email me when ready but forgot to and now it is too late. And then what made it worse was that the church proceeded to blame and judge me for the error and lecture me that I don't go to mass enough to read ALL the bulletins when they said they would email me. I'm so disappointed because it is so difficult to find religious education in Portland. And honestly I don't want the education that St. Mary's gives because it is too legalistic and judgemental. I don't want that from other Christians. I will go somewhere else where my efforts to be a Christian will be accepted.
I have been to St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception for so many life events. Baptisms, Weddings, Mass, Funerals, and concerts. Music, may there always be music. It is a beautiful church, a sacred space, welcoming and inspirational.
Gorgeous and the Blessed Mother really likes it :) The tabernacle is to the side so you can go kneel right next to Jesus. It is very touching. Also a lovely place to look at. I take the max or bus there quite often and always love the walk.
Beautiful acoustics for music events, but pews are uncomfortable and restroom availability is poor.
They really take good care of it. The church hall was immaculate.
Lovely cathedral. I loved the wooden doors, the windows, and the icon-style art. I cannot comment on parking, as I walked from my hotel downtown. Went to the 730 a.m. Sunday Mass, so there was no music...and also apparently no sharing of the Sign of Peace? Not sure if this is a pandemic holdover or a local practice. Communion is interesting - the faithful gather around the sanctuary rather than lining up. There are kneelers, or you can receive it standing. I was a bit sad that there are no votive offerings available, but I did appreciate the nook to the side for the tabernacle, which has kneelers for prayer.
Nice place to worship. Place is very solemn
So beautiful. The choir is so beautiful. First time here and definitely not our last.
Went to a couple of concerts there. The most recent attendance was with the Gesualdo Six - an acapella men's choir singing English Motets. The acoustics are divine in that space.
